They say inspiration comes from unusual places or things, one thing that has surely inspired me in the recent years is movies, and some really brings to light the concepts of starting a business, now there are rumors about a new movie starring Ashton Kutcher as Steve Jobs have circulating around the Web. Based on the biography by Walter Isaacson, the film will supposedly feature some scenes in the real-life garage where the Apple founder started the company with Steve Wozniak. Something any one intending or ever started a business should watch out for – I can’t wait. To warm up for this I suggest we should watch one Start-up/Entrepreneurial movie a week starting with:
1. The Social Network
A really inspiring movie about the most famous tech entrepreneur in recent memory, The Social Network follows the birth of Facebook. Adapted from Ben Mezrich's 2009 book The Accidental Billionaires, the film is a good lesson in pitfalls to avoid: deceiving your initial close friend and confidants, coding everything yourself, sleepless nights that can kill innovation (but might be necessary). Yet, the movie also shows how networking is the best way to seek initial capital investments, create initial market bases and leverage on it. Almost every successful start-up has at least one energetic go-getter who "friends" a venture capitalist.
